The Corrections Investigative Unit (CIU) is a special investigative team comprised of Correctional staff. The CIU primarily investigates incidents that occur within the facility, such as a Battery involving detainees, or damage to County property. The CIU investigators also work very closely with the Kane County Sheriff’s Department Investigations Division and other local investigators from the Illinois Department of Corrections, the Illinois State Police and other various police agencies throughout the United States. CIU team members have also assisted numerous Federal Investigative authorities since its inception. CIU team members are not full-time investigators, this is a collateral duty that they volunteered for and agreed to accept in addition to their regular duties as a Kane County Corrections Officer.
