Overview
The Division consists of one Lieutenant, two Sergeants and thirty-three Deputies,
assigned to Court facilities in six locations throughout Kane County: The
Judicial and Juvenile Justice Centers, located in St. Charles; The Geneva
Courthouse; Branch Courts in Aurora, Elgin and Carpentersville. The headquarters
are located in the Judicial Center in St. Charles.
Responsibilities of the Court Security Division:
- Provide a safe and orderly environment to the facilities and grounds of the 16th Judicial Circuit in Kane County
- Protect the integrity of the Court
- Maintain the decorum of the Court
- Deter those who would take disruptive or violent action against the Court and/or its participants
In 2008 Court Security Officers:
- Scanned 700,000 court attendees
- Took 1242 persons into custody in the courthouses
- Arrested 142 persons on outstanding warrants
- Confiscated 362 items
- Received advanced training in responding to active shooter threats in the courtrooms
- Provided integral support to the remainder of the Sheriff’s department during the move into the new jail and office
