The Kane County Sheriff's Office has School Resource Officers assigned to Burlington Central High School and Kaneland High School. The resource officers provide a positive relationship between students, staff, parents and the Sheriff's Office in promoting a safe environment for learning.

The resource officers also provide:

• Staff training for emergency response preparedness
• Supervision during passing periods
• Before and after school monitoring of vehicle traffic
• Enforcement of traffic and criminal laws
• Investigation of student to student complaints
• Investigation of parent and staff complaints
• Supervision of sporting events and other after-school events
• Educational presentations to students and staff
• Mentoring to students in need
