A dispatcher is a civilian position assigned to the Kane County Sheriff’s Communications Center. The center is a 24 hour a day continuous operation facility and is a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for ten police departments and seven fire departments. A dispatcher is primarily responsible for ensuring the prompt answering of incoming requests for police, fire, and emergency medical services as well as the timely and appropriate deployment of responders. A dispatcher monitors communications and serves as a vital link to field units, other agencies, and information sources.
