As a Deputy Corrections Officer, qualified candidates will be trained to operate a new state-of-the-art correctional facility. Duties include monitoring detainees to ensure a safe and secure environment for Sheriff's Department personnel, civilian staff, and those incarcerated.

The Kane County Sheriffs Corrections Division is responsible for the daily operations of the Kane County Adult Corrections facility.
The current facility opened in 1975 with a capacity of 102 inmates, and has since grown to the current capacity of 398 inmates. The facility frequently holds over 600 inmates. The facility also maintains on-site food preparation, medical, dental services, religious services, recreational and educational services for the inmates.
The Corrections Division is also responsible for staffing the holding facility at the Kane County Judicial Center, where averages of 80 inmates per day are transported for court appearances. This division is also responsible for inmate movement outside the jail for medical appointments and court appearances in other jurisdictions.Qualifications
- Be of 21 Years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Ability to pass all pre-test or post test examinations as prescribed by the Kane County Sheriffs Merit Commission.
- Be acceptable to the Merit Commission following an investigation of background, reputation, character, and employment records.
- Have a valid driver's license.
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of Kane, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kendall, McHenry or Will Counties.
Qualified applicants may use military and/or educational preference points.
Bi-lingual skills are encouraged.

Salary
- Starting pay of $41,124 up to $63,168 after six years
- Probationary Salary - $3295.00
- 12 Months - $3883.00
- 24 Months - $4176.00
- 36 Months - $4470.00
- 48 Months - $4764.00
- 72 Months - $5062.00
- Uniform allowance of $1000 per year
