The Kane County Judiciary, Court Services and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office have worked closely together to develop programs that will help reduce overcrowding of the present jail. Such programs include the Pretrial Services Program where law enforcement and probation staffs cooperate to screen detainees who cannot post bond. The program is designed to provide judges with personal and criminal information about defendants who are seeking bond reductions. Detainees are also monitored when released and their cooperation is reported back to the courts. Also, they have implemented a Special Bond Call where weekly, traffic and misdemeanor offenses are reviewed and brought before the courts for possible early release.
