Currently at the Kane County Adult Justice Center we offer the following detainee programs:

  • Religious services: A variety of religious faiths consisting of volunteers who offer spiritual support to the detainee population
  • GED classes: A program offered by Kane County in conjunction with Waubonsee Community College for adult education.
  • Health Awareness: Consists of members from the Kane County Health Department who offer counseling in dealing with HIV and its prevention.
  • AA (Alcoholics Anonymous): Counselors who offer support to those dealing with Alcoholism
  • CA (Cocaine Anonymous): Support group for those dealing with Cocaine Abuse
  • Law Library: State mandated resource for detainees in need of legal information

These programs are intended to serve as support groups for our detainee population and are mandated by the state. We have done our best to serve the religious, educational, health, and legal needs of our detainees. This gives them a sense of hope for the future and eases the mental and physical strain on incarcerated individuals. We have currently started a detainee newsletter. This provides a form of communication for the staff as well as moral support for the detainees.
