Transition Team

Accompanying the construction of the new county jail is a new philosophy on how best to manage detainee behavior within the facility. The Kane County Adult Justice Center has met this challenge by adopting the principles of Direct Supervision. In a Direct Supervision setting, the Officers will play a prominent role in the day to day activities of the detainees. Rather than being separated by walls and bars, as in the current facility, the Officers will be inside the housing units interacting with the detainees. One responsibility of the Transition Team is to determine how best to classify the detainee population to ensure that the appropriate detainees are housed together in order to create the safest environment possible for both staff and those incarcerated.
